- The geothermal resources have a potential to produce
up to 4,000 Mw.
- The standard voltage generated is 13,800 volts,
3-phase at a frequency of 60 Hertz per second.
- All the generators, with the exception of the
isolated systems, are connected to the national grid, which in turn,
is connected to Honduras and Costa Rica through the Regional Interconnection
System, allowing the three countries to export and import energy
freely.
- The Nicaraguan Government estimates that for the
next ten years, it will be necessary to invest around US $1,500
million in the generation of electricity.
- Due to the rise in population and the economic
activities in Nicaragua, it is expected that demand for energy will
increase at a constant rate of 10% per year for the next 20 years.
